Three Enriched IT Class students of St. Paul's Convent School won a Bronze Award while six students of Man Kwan Pak Kau College won two Certificate of Merits in the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2020 Student Innovation Award (Secondary School).

RAINstation is a rainwater harvesting power generation system, promoting the concept of smart city. Extending panels, rain sensors and hydroelectric generators are installed on outdoor MTR platforms (such as those on East Rail line and Kwun Tong line), and information so collected can be directed to the cloud for analysis with an aim to reduce flooding and protect the station to ensure public safety. The same set of components can be installed on the school campus and use “smart” extending panels to shield students from the sun and rain so as to encourage students to stay outdoor outside the scheduled class hours which in turn can help to reduce the time the students stay in the classrooms with the air conditioners on.

Smart Elderly Bathroom is a system installed in the bathroom of elderly singletons for reporting accidents to family members. It uses Arduino UNO as the main circuit, which works with some pressure sensors to detect whether the elderly has fallen to the ground of the bathroom. If there is an accident, the system will send a message to alert family members to call for rescue.

Save In Time is a computer system installed at the homes of elderly singletons and it uses AI image recognition technology to automatically monitor the health status of the elderly. When the elderly are detected by the system to be in danger, collapsed or in need of rescue, the system will generate an alarm signal to try to awaken the elderly. If the condition does not improve, the system will send a message to alert family members to call for rescue.

The Hong Kong ICT Awards is steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and organised by Hong Kong ICT industry associations and professional bodies, the Awards aims at recognising and promoting outstanding information and communications technology (ICT) inventions and applications, thereby encouraging innovation and excellence among Hong Kong's ICT talent and enterprises in their constant pursuit of creative and better solutions to meet business and social needs. There are eight categories under the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2020. Among them, the Student Innovation Award aims to nurture local students in using their creativity to develop and apply innovative technology for the betterment of our community.
