Enriched IT Class students of Pak Kau College won the Certificate of Merit in the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2019 Student Innovation Award (Secondary School).

Certificate of Merit - WONG Man-kin, TING Yat-kit, LAM Tsz-yeung and TSE Ching-lam, their entry titled “Chinese Words in AR”.
Description of the entry :
“Chinese Words in AR” is an Augmented Reality (AR) card game designed for students with special educational needs (SEN). Students of Pak Kau College use 3D printing technology to produce a set of Chinese characters and Chinese character name cards. With the support of the AR technology, players can perform Chinese character composition and decomposition exercises, and obtain the meaning by scanning the characters. WONG Man-kin, a member of the winning team, is also a dyslexia student and he deeply understands the difficulties of dyslexia. As such he was inspired to participate in this competition with his classmates. The awardees hope that this game could be able to help SEN students to solve the difficulties in learning Chinese characters.
The Hong Kong ICT Awards is steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and organised by Hong Kong ICT industry associations and professional bodies, the Awards aims at recognising and promoting outstanding information and communications technology (ICT) inventions and applications, thereby encouraging innovation and excellence among Hong Kong's ICT talent and enterprises in their constant pursuit of creative and better solutions to meet business and social needs. There are eight categories under the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2019. Among them, the Student Innovation Award aims to nurture local students in using their creativity to develop and apply innovative technology for the betterment of our community.
