Under the arrangement of the Enriched IT Programme in Secondary Schools, 21 Enriched IT Class students participated in a workshop “Empowering Youth by Innovative Cloud Technology and AI” organised by the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Academy on 10 Feb 2018. This is the first university level cloud computing programme customised by AWS Academy specially for Enriched IT Class students with outstanding IT performance. The workshop introduced the basic concepts of a series of innovative technologies such as cloud computing, big data and artificial intelligence (AI). Through the interesting demonstrations of various technologies, such as AI image recognition, the instructor, Dr Michael Chen, aroused students’ interests in applying technology to solve real-life problems. During the hands-on session, students had the opportunities to set up their own website and online service through the application of cloud computing technology.
