Enriched IT Class students, Kun Yu Tang and Wing Lam Wong, of Shun Tak Fraternal Association Yung Yau College won Gold award in the Infomatrix 2017 held at Romania with their self-developed project titled “Electromyo Prosthesis & Controlling System”.

To reduce muscle inflammation caused by long-term usage of mechanical prosthesis, the awardees developed a new prosthesis which allows patients to control their palm movement more easily and with no harm to their body. It makes use of the weak current generated by human muscle’s activity and software to control the electronic prosthetic limb. In addition, it also allows the users to use it as TV remote control through the infrared sensor and software.

“Electromyo Prosthesis & Controlling System” also won the Bronze Award for the Best Student Invention Award (Senior Division) in the “Hong Kong ICT Awards 2017”.
