“Enriched IT Programme” Partner School students won multiple awards in AiTLE “MakeX Robotics Competition 2018” (with photos)

Enriched IT Class students Hin Pok Wong and Chung Wing Kwong of The Y.W.C.A. Hioe Tjo Yoeng College were crowned Champion, the Best Design Award and Gold Award (completed three tasks or above) in the AiTLE “MakeX Robotics Competition 2018”.



The theme of the competition was "Blue Planet", which tested the player's engineering skills, multi-tasking logical thinking and the ability to collaborate strategically. Students were required to design a robot with monitoring and decontamination functions. With the help of sensors and pre-written programs, it could operate accurately according to automatic program instructions to complete different tasks. The competition comprised cooperation tasks and independent tasks for scoring, which the team with the highest score and the shortest completion time would be the winner.


“MakeX Robotics Competition” is an annual international robotic event centered on STEAM education. It aims at promoting technology and education innovation through high-level events. The competition 2018 was jointly organised by the Association of I.T. Leaders in Education (AiTLE), Everbest Technologies Limited and HKU e-Learning Development Laboratory, and co-organised by The Education University of Hong Kong Jockey Club Primary School.
