Enriched IT Class S3 students Sunnie Chan, Janice Chan and Eageon Lai of St. Paul’s Convent School crowned Champion in the “Hong Kong Primary & Secondary Schools STEM Robotics Competition 2019 (Junior Division)”.

In this competition, students are required to complete a series of robotics missions through their computational thinking and programming skills. Besides, good communication and cooperation is the key to get high scores to win.

The Competition is divided into Round A and Round B, and participating teams must complete both rounds. In Round A, students are required to build programs for one humanoid J-Robot to collaborate with one Jumping Sumo robot to pick up cubes on floor and then put them on marked zones. In Round B, students are required to build programs for one Jumping Sumo robot to collaborate with another Jumping Sumo robot to compete with another team to push the cubes to opponent's zone. Number of cubes remaining on the opponent's zone after the competition time will be the score of the team. The scores of Round A and B are added and the team with the highest scores will be the winner.

“Hong Kong Primary & Secondary Schools STEM Robotics Competition 2019” was co-organised by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Electronic Engineering), St. Paul's Convent School (Secondary Section) and Smart Kiddo Education Limited. It consists of a series of robotics missions, which aims to nurture students’ interest in robotics, computer science and information technology; hone their problem-solving and logical thinking skills and strengthen their ability to communicate and cooperate effectively.
